Research Focus

1. R&D and Application of Pollution Prevention Technologies
We continuously research, develop, and integrate new technologies for traditional environmental pollution prevention engineering, including water pollution control, air pollution control, waste treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, soil and groundwater remediation, and noise and vibration control. In recent years, our primary research directions have focused on the application of novel catalysts in advanced oxidation processes, reaction kinetics, and the transformation and transport of pollutants. Graduate students engage in specialized learning alongside expert professors. Coupled with practical training through research projects, they are well-prepared to apply their expertise in environmental pollution prevention departments and related research institutions across various industries.

2. Application and Enhancement of Environmental Quality Monitoring and Management Technologies
For many years, the laboratories in our institute have been commissioned by numerous organizations to continuously conduct investigations and evaluations of environmental media such as water, air, and soil. Combining the flora and fauna ecological survey expertise of related departments in our university, we actively engage in research on environmental quality issues, such as environmental carrying capacity, environmental impact assessments, and environmental protection plans, contributing to the sustainable development of the region. Recently, we have also actively developed novel sensors and environmental molecular biotechnology, aiming to improve the quality of existing environmental monitoring technologies and shorten monitoring times.

3. Research and Development of Energy and Resource Regeneration

In recent years, the decline in global oil reserves has drawn international attention to feasibility studies on alternative energy sources. Taiwan is poor in natural resources and relies heavily on imported energy. Furthermore, the massive amount of waste generated annually often consumes energy for treatment, despite these materials having potential for resource utilization. Under the pressures of energy costs and raw material supply, improving energy efficiency and promoting resource regeneration and utilization has become an urgent priority. Therefore, our institute has integrated relevant university talent and resources to establish the "Green Technology R&D Center." We actively conduct research on topics such as waste composting for resource recovery, eco-cement R&D, energy and resource recovery, reaction engineering and cleaner production, microbial fuel cells, and applications of environmental nanotechnology, aligning with the trends of new energy and resource recycling.
